Joe Gatto is responsible for providing CIO and IT advisory services to small and middle market organizations for Liberty Technology Advisors, LLC. He has over thirty-five years of experience in business and information technology. Joe is a senior executive with progressive experience in management consulting, software integration, business process optimization and Information Technology. He has significant experience in the Middle Market, Manufacturing and Consumer Products industries. His experiences include IT restructuring, aligning IT with business strategy and helping clients mine the undiscovered value of ERP systems.
Mr. Gatto is the former President of the Ft. Sheridan Group LLC where he was responsible for all operations of the company. The Ft. Sheridan Group, LLC was a Management Consultancy providing CIO advisory services and high-level information technology advisory services to small and middle market sized companies. He is the former Vice President of Consulting Operations for Trilogy Software. Trilogy provides software solutions to address the most complex business issues related to sales configuration, product development and commission systems. Prior to Trilogy he served as the Chief Operating Officer of Emerald Solutions. Emerald Solutions is a mid-sized business and technology consulting company. Previously he was a Partner at Ernst & Young (now Cap Gemini) where he was the Director of the Systems Integration/Enterprise Application Systems practice. He was responsible for providing overall practice leadership and Enterprise Application System implementation services to global and middle market clients. Prior to Ernst & Young he was the Director of Information Services for the Wilson Sporting Goods division of PepsiCo. Industry experience includes: consumer products, manufacturing, life sciences and distribution.
At Liberty Technology Advisors Mr. Gatto has:
• Led the ERP software evaluation and selection for a mid-sized business-to-business e-tailing company.
At Ft. Sheridan Group Mr. Gatto has:
• Developed an IT alignment program for a middle market consumer products company that was faced with post merger integration issues.
• Assisted a distribution company with an Oracle ERP upgrade.
• Led an IT risk assessment engagement for a middle market manufacturing company.
• Developed an IT strategy and systems implementation plan for a small consumer products company.
• Provided business restructuring guidance and on-going advisory services to a small IT services company.
• Conducted an IT due dilligence engagement for an investment banking group that was acquiring a communications technology company.
• Provided on-going CIO advisory services to a middle market manufacturing company.
• Selected and imnplemented an IT Governance system for a mid-sized services organization.
• Successfully completed an executive search for a CIO for a mid-sized business services company.
At Trilogy Software Mr. Gatto has:
• Upgraded delivery capabilities to move from technically centric to customer centric solution implementations by restructuring the consulting organization.
• Implemented a Program Management Office to improve software implementations across five business units. This PMO developed methods, processes, project plans, quality assurance standards, business alignment measurements and standards for technical design for all software implementations. Company is on a path to achieve CMM level 3. This PMO was the foundation for improving the customer satisfaction ratings for Trilogy software implementations from 15% up to 88% within 18 months.
At Emerald Solutions Mr Gatto has:
• Led the restructuring of three operating regions to improve local market client focus and leverage solution offerings.
• Directed the integration of business strategy, web design and development, e-commerce, CRM, ERP and IT development solution teams.
• Led the restructuring to put the company on a path to profitability. Built quarter to quarter revenues from $18m to $23m while driving down costs from a $3m operating loss to a break even within three months.
• Implemented processes which resulted in improved operating margins, consulting utilization and collections. DSO reduced from 85 to 60.
At Ernst & Young, Mr. Gatto has:
• Directed the implementation of the PeopleSoft financial suite of applications for the leading certification and testing company in the country.
• Lead the planning and design of the Oracle order management, materials management and procurement modules for an office products manufacturer
• Directed the implementation of the SAP financial suite of applications for a manufacturing and consumer products company.
• Served as the quality service advisor on the following ERP implementations: an SAP full suite implementation for a global pharmaceutical manufacturer, an Oracle financial and distribution suite of applications for a consumer products manufacturer, a PeopleSoft financial suite of applications for a global professional services organization, an Oracle full suite of applications for a global construction organization, an SAP full suite of applications for a consumer products company.
• Directed the implementation of the SAP financial and order management suite of applications for a major office furniture company.
• Established the SAP Center of Excellence in Chicago to support all SAP implementations within the region.
• Directed the planning, selection and implementation of a pan-European suite of business applications for an international consumer products company. These applications included Sales Order Processing, Warehouse Management, Inventory Management and all Financial systems which were implemented throughout Europe.
• Directed a strategic business assessment for a major industrial/consumer products manufacturer and distributor. This led to the development and implementation of competitive strategies for manufacturing, distribution and cost management. He also led the development of a tactical information systems plan to support the new strategies.
• Assisted an electronics manufacturer with the development of business system requirements, packaged software selection, and implementation of a manufacturing planning and control system.
• Directed the business system design and implementation of a manufacturing planning and control system at a consumer products manufacturer.
• Developed a Systems Plan for a major consumer products company and assisted with the selection of hardware and software.
• Developed a Systems Plan for a Manufacturer and Distributor of office products. Assisted the client with the selection and implementation of an integrated business information system (including distribution, customer order entry, manufacturing and finance).
• Developed a manufacturing systems plan and distributed hardware plan for a medium sized manufacturer and distributor of products for the health care industry.
Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Mr. Gatto had over fifteen years of industry experience in management information systems and manufacturing systems in the following capacities:
• Director of Information Services for a medium-sized manufacturer and distributor of consumer products. Responsible for all information systems functions.
• Corporate manager of systems and programming for a medium sized manufacturer of industrial products with specific focus on deveoping new manufacturing, order processing and distribution systems.
Mr. Gatto holds a B.S. degree in Commerce from DePaul University and an M.B.A. in General Management from the Lake Forest School of Management. Mr. Gatto is a member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) where he has served as a Chapter Vice President, and he is certified as a CPIM. Mr. Gatto is a member of the Turnaround Management Association. Mr. Gatto also serves on the advisory board of the DePaul University MBA program. Mr. Gatto is an adjunct professor at DePaul University where he teaches management information systems in the MBA program.
